We got a house!!

Andrew and I are closing on our first house this week!!! What a great Christmas present :) It's a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house in a good neighborhood and it's at a great location. Also, we have a koi pond! How cool is that? I'm super pumped because this means that I get to start decorating my own space for the first time. I have a lot of ideas for little art projects! However, the decision of what our living room will look like is hanging over my head. Normally, I would pick a light calming shade of blue for the walls but we won't be in this house for a long period of time and I think it's really important to do something fun for these first few fleeting years! I want to incorporate 3 C's into our living room: cozy, country, chic.

I really like this one with the neutral walls, splash of color, and the cozy country feel. It just needs a little sparkle here and there :)

A Great Sunday

Today has been a wonderful Sunday. It got a great start when we, LSU, beat Alabama last night! Also, we got an extra hour of sleep for daylight savings! I spent the morning at the Chi O house voting on the new officers! Congrats to Morgan Gremillion for the New Member Educator position!! Then I had lunch with my roomie Sydney. I got to spend the afternoon watching movies with my wonderful Fiance and then back to the house for the announcement of the new officers! Morgan Sartor and I are currently doing everything possible not to work on school work. If my English paper, due tomorrow, is on Facebook, isn't it considered research for me to check Facebook every 5 minutes? I think so. The guys are risking their lives to get the best donuts everm Krispy Kreme, on plank road. Isn't that romantic? They are so sweet! Well, back to English!

Perfect Party Dress

One thing that you have to know about me is that I love fashion and I am an Apparel Design major at LSU. I love my major and I can't wait to see what God has in store for me.

Fall 2010

I am obsessed with this dress by Prada. I love the design of it. It's such a simple hourglass silhouette. The ruffles and the rounded cutout give it such an unexpected, feminine touch. This dress would be perfect for a party in the winter with some shear black tights paired with some funky high heel ankle boots. In the spring, simply pair it with some strappy black flats. And don't forget those pearl stud earrings!  So classic yet so unique! :)

First blog

Go easy on me-- it's my first blog. Firstly, I picked the title "la vie en turquoise" for a few reasons. I sat around trying to think of something cool edgy so people will think my blog is awesome even though my actual blogs are not. I wanted to name it "la vie en rose" which, if you haven't heard the saying, translates to "the life in pink." It basically means that you are optimistic about life because you are "seeing the world in pink." I thought this was a neat title since blogs take something simple about the day, analyze it, and comment on it with cute, witty sayings. So you are seeing life optimistically. But pink is not my favorite color so I wouldn't want to view the world as pink. Blue and green, however, are my favorites, leaving turquoise the best option. So, we have: "la vie en turquoise." I think it gives a classic saying a funky, modern spin. On to the blog...  Sitting outside the union today, my friend Morgan told me I'd be a good blogger. I think this first post will prove her wrong and I love being right so here goes. I decided to start my blogs off with what I do best: procrastination. I partake in this activity just about everyday. I am actually procrastinating right now, because by creating and writing this blog, I am putting off a sketch I need to get done, which has been assigned for over a week and is due tomorrow. In fact, I'm procrastinating procrastination. Because I've been watching TV for the past 20 minutes avoiding writing this first awkward, introductory blog. It's truly something I do best, and I think it is an experience every college student should have. Fortunately, I've had years of practice. Well, I gotta go! Sorry for the brevity, but I'm meeting a friend for dinner at 6 and I've now left myself 25 minutes to take a shower and get ready. Ironic, I know. C'est ma vie en turquoise!
